Welcome to Kitchen Collateral! A space to find recipes and stories inspired by the chaos of life. A place for friends, family, and everyone in between to find both recipe inspiration and (hopefully) a laugh.
About Me
I’m Michele! A Boston based high school Latin teacher by day, avid home cook and writer by night, whose chaotic energy sometimes translates into truly ridiculous misfortunes.
I’m deeply passionate about food, the joy of cooking, and all things Italy. For me, the art of sharing a meal (even with just yourself!) is one of the most beautiful, powerful, and unifying things there is. Cooking has always been my favorite expression of love and exploration—a way to cherish those around me, those who came before me, and travel the world from my kitchen.
But, the kitchen has also always been a safe haven for me—the place I seek comfort when I’m feeling anxious, stressed, or I’ve had a DAY. And let me tell you—I’ve had quite a few DAYS in my short time on earth.
What Will I Find Here?
Recipes: A wide variety of my favorite tried & true recipes from fabulous bloggers and cookbook authors to some of my own twists and creations. You’ll come to notice that I have BVE (big vegetarian energy) despite not being a vegetarian.
Stories: Food always tells a story—whether an origin story, a vibrant history, or an “I can’t believe a snow plow demolished my car but at least we have these tacos?” kind of story. You’ll hear some of those first two varieties, but much more of that last category. Those that know me well know that I’ve always been a bit…accident prone. Over the years I’ve come to accept that I’m human (GREAT news on the food enjoyment front) and the golden saying “sh*t happens”.
And I hope you can do the same! Because Kitchen Collateral is also a place to remind you of the importance of laughing at yourself. It’s a reminder to grant yourself grace in all areas of life, but especially in the kitchen.
